DOWNSTREAM DIRECTORATE

The Downstream Directorate in the oil and gas sector describes the supply-chain starting with transportation of refined products from refineries to storage facilities to either retail outlets or distribution networks where the products are finally consumed. The Downstream Directorate at Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET) was established in May 2012.  The directorate consists of eleven (11) departments with roughly 300 staff members. Generally, there are three (3) main areas in the Petroleum Sector namely;

• The Upstream (Exploration and Production),
• The Midstream (Pipelines, Refineries, Processing Facilities, etc) and
• The Downstream (Storage, Retail, Distribution, etc).

At Nile Petroleum Corporation, the Downstream and Midstream are combined into one directorate.
