Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel.

Dr. Chol graduated as Civil Engineer from the University of Khartoum in 2002. After his graduation, Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel participated actively in many projects and accumulated practical and consultancy experience. His practical and consultancy experience spans a wide spectrum of construction projects, including but not limited to preparation of tender documents, bid evaluation, site investigation and construction of water treatment plants, irrigation pumping stations, hydro-power dams and multistory buildings.

During that period, he worked for irrigation works corporation, Lahmeyer International (German Co.) and Dams Implementation Unit (DIU).

In 2009, Dr. Chol completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Municipal Water and Infrastructures at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. In 2014, he obtained a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands and joined Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET) the same year as Training and Development Consultant.

In 2015, Dr. Chol was promoted to be Deputy Managing Director and Director General for Downstream where he participated actively in development of NILEPET’s 5-year master plan and accomplished many other projects in Downstream.

In 2017, Dr. Chol was appointed the Managing Director of NILEPET. Upon his appointment, he embarked on a vigorous plan that focuses on building refineries, training of staff, purchasing rigs and many other assets.

Dr. Chol, has an extensive track record of successes in conducting research (with over 190 citations of published papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings) in the field of Environmental Engineering. His PhD dissertation was published by Taylor and Francis Publishing House. Furthermore, Dr. Chol has successfully supervised and mentored 7 M.Sc. students.

With establishment of Nile Petroleum Corporation in 2003 and subsequent incorporation in 2009, the office of the Managing Director oversees, directs, liaises and coordinates all NILEPET functions vertically, horizontally and diagonally for the corporation to achieve its main objective.
